There's a funny thing about being seen. We spend majority of our lives hoping that someone notices us, but when they finally do, we realize being noticed and being understood are not the same thing.
Social Media has made visibility easier. We are able to post pictures, share out thoughts, and tell the world exactly what we're doing in seconds. But somehow, in a world where everyone is looking, so many of us are still feeling so invisible.
Maybe that's because being seen isn't about the views, likes, and if someone remembers your name. Maybe it's about the person who notices when your smile looks different. The friend who can tell when you're exhausted before you even say a word. The conversations where you don't have to explain every little piece of yourself because someone simply just gets it.
I've started to wonder if we're all just chasing the wrong type of attention. We tend to dress up, edit captions, and rehearse what we're going to say, hoping that someone will notice us. But we're really just craving understanding not attention.
Being seen isn't about someone watching your life unfold. It's about someone recognizing the parts of you that never makes it to the photos. The insecurities we laugh off. the dreams we keep to ourselves because saying them out loud makes them feel all too real. And the quiet victories no one claps for.
Maybe that's why the people who make us feel most loved aren't the loud ones. They're the ones who remember the little things. They ask the second question instead of just accepting the first one. They notice who we are when we're not trying to impress.
And maybe the greatest form of love isn't finding someone who is always looking at you. But finding someone who truly sees you.
Which makes me wonder.... In a world where everyone is looking, how many of us are truly being seen?
